Crochet Coverlet and Hat Photo Prop Set

Pattern is now released for the Crochet Coverlet and Hat Photo Prop.

IMG_4052-1

This pattern is for a crochet coverlet and hat set – ideal for photo shoots or as a novelty baby shower gift.

Two hexagon motifs are included for boy/girl options.  That said, there is absolutely no reason why the versions can’t be interchanged, mixed about and used together to make a unisex coverlet…I mean, boys look good in flowers too, don’t they ;)

The crochet coverlet is made up of 7 hexagons and measures approximately 33cm (13”) at the widest part.

The hat has a 35cm (14”) head circumference.

Materials – 100g (300m) DK (8-ply) yarn for both hat and coverlet – colour changes are optional

Tools – 3.50mm hook

This pattern is written in UK terms with US equivalents where applicable.

Crochet ‘As You Like It’ Baby Bonnet

Whether you want to make a baby-soft, lightweight bonnet for a preemie or newborn, a vintage style, cotton and lace, christening bonnet, a chunky warm bonnet for cold winter days or a thick, luxurious bonnet fit for a princess, this pattern can do it all.

As you like it Baby Bonnet Crochet

The simple base can be made from any yarn, in a variety of sizes from small newborn to 2 years of age.  Once the base is complete, you decide to decorate it how you like. Maybe a delicate picot edging or a stunning fluted trim?

By trimming in a contrasting colour, adding lace, swansdown, bows, beads or any other accessories you like, you can turn your bonnet into a truly individual item.

A full gallery of ideas is included so you can see exactly how each of the looks is achieved.

If you have your own specific idea in mind, the trims are fully illustrated to make it easy to pick and mix.

Crochet Any Size – Any Yarn Hat

Any size, any yarn hat.

Any Size Any Yarn Hat

A simple pattern that works for all sizes from micro preemie (1-2lbs) up to adult male.  Plus, because of the way the pattern is set up, you can use any yarn you like.  Well, practically any yarn you like!  A micro-preemie hat isn’t going to work very well in super chunky unless you are making it for a doll.

The pattern is now available to purchase from Ravelry

Subtle shaping covers the ears without the need to make separate earflaps.  Clever in-space increases make it easy to work without the need for counting.  The ridges add interest to an otherwise simple and plain hat.

Quick and easy to work up with newborn sizes taking less than an hour – an ideal last minute gift.

Crochet Snake Hat

Crochet ‘snake bite’ photo prop snake hat.

Snake Hat

This pattern is for a novelty photo prop snake hat.

Care should be taken if baby is wearing it for anything other than a photo shoot as the long tail could pose a risk.

Instructions are included for sizes 0-3 (3-6, 6-9, 9-12) months with details of how to modify for larger sizes.

Two different finishes for the head are provided as shown in the pictures above.

YOU WILL NEED 300 m double knitting (8-ply) yarn, oddments of black and white yarn for eyes and fangs, a 3.50mm hook and a needle for neatening ends.

Should you wish to use Aran, Worsted Weight or other thickness of yarn, follow the instructions for larger sizes – gauge and yardage will not apply in such cases.

GAUGE: 8 stitches and 4 rows to 5 cm (2”) in UK trebles (US double crochet).

This pattern is written in UK terms with a table of US equivalents.

This pattern is fully tested.

Bearghan Two

Bear Afghan or Bearghan

This time, the bearghan is for my gorgeous grandson, Kobe.  I think I might try one with smaller squares next time :)

Pattern as before available at http://yarncrazy.blogspot.com/2009/05/bearghan_08.html

Note: the pattern uses American crochet terms so you will need to translate it into English crochet if that is what you are used to

The bearghan makes an awesome baby shower gift.  The squares are quick and easy to work and can be done in any colour making the bearghan perfect for a boy or a girl.
